1. Name the three types of decelerations, their causes, and the interventions for each.
Explain the differences between internal and external fetal monitoring.
. Which FHR pattern is treated with an amnioinfusion?
1.There are three types of decelerations, they are:
it is uniform and periodic slowing of FHR,repititive in this it begins during or after the contraction have started, so when contraction finishes it reaches to baseline rate.Early deceleration mainly occurs due to compression of head (fetal head) The main interventation here is monitoring the patient continuously, as FHR stays within normal range (110-160 bpm)it is nothing to worry about it.
It is uniform, it is U shaped. It begins during or after contraction have started but when contraction finishes it does not reach the baseline, it reaches baseline when next contraction starts.
In cases such as cord prolapse, placental abnormalities, excessive uterine contractions, oxytocin injurious administration, regional anesthesia, the late decelerations occurs.
Interventions are nurse should attempt to increase oxygen delivery to fetus by turning her mother on her left side or administering oxygen.if oxyocin is administered it should be stopped.
In ths onset occurence, timing will have extreme variations.
Main causes include vaginal reflex triggered by head compression during pushngannd cord compression, prolapsed cord, decreased amniotic fluid and fetal descent.
Main intervention include:turn mother on her side, stop Picotin if infusing, maintain IV access, determine FHR variabilityand contact doctor.
Amnioinfusion is a procedure in which normal saline and ringer lactate solution is infused into uterine cavity to replace amniotic fluid It is used in the Treatment of variable Decelerations during labour.
