Explain how each of the three types of crystalloids listed below causes fluid shifts
c. Hypotonic crystalloids:
I hope you will rate my answer positively -------
CRYSTALLOIDS ----- Crystalloids are the stable salt mixture which has small molecular content that can easily pass across through the membrane barrier.
Their are three types of Crystalloids ―
Isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic.
1. ISOTONIC CRYSTALLOIDS----- It is a solution which has same concentration of solute as that present in plasma.
Their is no shift of fluid and remains in extracellular matrix causes vascular expansion.
2. HYPOTONIC CRYSTALLOIDS ------ It is a solution which has less solute concentration as that present in plasma.
It shift fluid into cells or tissue from vessels and provide hydration , which causes edema& hyponatremia.
3. HYPERTONIC CRYSTALLOIDS ----- It is a solution which has more concentration of solute as that present in plasma.
It shift fluid back to the blood circulation causes loss of water, cell shrinkage, and vascular expansion.
Thank-you.
