1. Three types of Syringes:

A syringe is a medical device used for injecting or drawing fluids through a membrane or into and from the body.

Types:

* Normal slip tip syringe : This type of Syringe allow needle to slip over the tip and it is for the needle .

* Luer Lock: a threaded tip of this type syringe barrel allows the needle to be secured safely.

* Catheter tip: A tapered tip of this type of Syringe allows injection through a tube.

( Eccentric tip ,  the tip of the syringes is in line with the outer surface of the barrel,  Insulin syringe, sigle use and expensive, are the other main type of Syringes )

2. Maximum volume:

5 ml

Researches show that the maximum volume, for a single IM injection is 5 ml.

Intra muscular site is a common site for injection. The nurse has to check the dose of the medicine before injections. Adult with less development of muscle mass should receive less amount of medicine .
