Describe how you will apply your acquired knowledge
out of psychology class to your patients when you start working in
your medical field of your choice?
My medical field of choice is Associates of Applied Science Medical
Assistant.
Psychology is itself a vast subject. And to be frank, the whole medical field depends upon what is taught in psychology class.Even in day to day life,it is quite important to know a person's psyche to understand what is going on in his or her mind.So question comes, how is it important in different branches medical field? So,actually to diagnose and understand the problems of the patients,a doctor should have a good knowledge of psychology. This is because, sometimes, patients hide a lot of problems. In developing countries, patients hide their sexual diseases or RTIs.So unless there is a good knowledge in psychology,a doctor will miss the symptoms and give wrong diagnosis. In nursing, for example,a knowledge of psychology helps a lot.It helps to communicate with the patients, thus improving nurse and patient relationships.
Talking about your branch,in Associates of Applied Science Medical Assistant, psychology takes an important role. You will have to prepare the patient and make him or her comfortable before the doctor,so that the doctor can treat properly. For example,in an operation theatre, nurse takes an important role in preparing the patient for the surgery. The role includes removing the fear from patient's mind, make a good relationship and so on.
