My idea of a good day in an acute care setting when providing care to my team of patients is a day where everything has gone right with respect to the patient care in specific and the environment at work has been good and motivating and there has been personal growth in terms of learning and evolution as a nursing professional.
Patient factors:
Patient is the center of my professional universe.A good day at nursing in an acute care setting as perceived by me is the achievement of the patient goals for that day in a professional manner. The following patient factors define a good day for me.
1.The rendering of the correct clinical assessment, timely medications with quality nursing care and correct documentation, for every patient in the team of my patients make it a successful day.
2 The execution of the hassle-free acute care and swiftness in the interventions being achieved without any delays in the patient care define good day at work.
3.The absence of errors in patient assessments ,documentations or medications administration done by me and the absence of any incident reports to be submitted for the professional errors at work. The attainment of the right patient,the right drug ,the right route, right dose ,the right time and frequency and right documentation goals for every member of the team of acute care patients makes it a good day.
4.The effortless and effective counseling and teaching of the patients with respect to the nursing interventions and attainment of nursing goals for the patients define my professional satisfaction for the good work day.
5.The provision of empathetic counseling of the patients families and attenders in the critically ill patients by me.
6.All the ethical considerations in nursing like informed consent, respect for patient privacy and autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, distributive justice,fidelity and principles of totality and integrity have been effortlessly and professionally meted while providing care to the team of patients in the acute care make it a good day at work.

The following personal factors make a good day at nursing in an acute care setting for me.
1. My reaching to work early and seamless handoff from the nurses of the previous shifts
2. My being assigned care to the ideal number of patients that I can manage and maintenance of the ideal nurse to patient ratio for my working day.
3. A challenging environment in patient care that stimulates my critical thinking skills to the maximum and yields positive patient care outcomes.
4. The completion of the documentation work with accuracy and speed earlier in the shift providing me more time for patient care and personalized patient attention.
5. The effective nursing interventions, personalized patient care and my meeting the nursing care goals for the team of my patients as per the nursing care plans for that shift .
6.Positive patient outcomes and successful treatment of the patient by correct timely interventions and provision of good and effective culturally competent nursing care and education make a good day at work for me.
7. Good Learning opportunity during the day that adds to my professional growth and knowledge.
8. A peaceful short nursing break and absence of physical fatigue and emotional,mental exhaustion in the nursing shift.

Nursing environmental and Hospital [organizational] factors:
A typical good day at work for me would be when my interaction with the members of the nursing team at work in the acute care setting has been rewarding and fruitful in providing the quality patient care. It would be when all the following factors have been done correctly for the day.
1. Effective and responsible delegation to the other members of the team. and good support and responses from the other members of the nursing team.
2. A healthy working environment with successful integration of the multidisciplinary patient care to be provided to the team of patients in the acute care by maintaining effective coordination and communication between the team members from the various specialty areas define the success at being able to provide comprehensive patient care.
3. Effective communication with the nurse supervisor or manager for the shift about the patient's condition and issues,troubleshooting and planning patient goals.A recognition for my work from my supervisor works like a confidence booster in the good day at work.
4. Fruitful physician interaction regarding the patient's condition for change of the medications,necessary patient investigations, interventions by recognition of the patient's health status changes through rigorous monitoring that affects the patient outcomes positively.
5.Minimum wastage of time at work by interruptions with phone calls, visitors, casual queries and unnecessary documentation mistakes with the optimum utilization of time and best time management practices.
