Arteries carry out the work of delivering oxygenated blood along with nutrients as well as glucose to the brain. The deoxygenated blood is carried back to the heart as it would be removing carbon dioxide as well as lactic acid. There are two major areas of supply of the brain, the middle cerebral artery and the anterior cerebral artery.
