Loneliness can be defined as "the emotional state that results from desiring close interpersonal relationships but being unable to attain them". Loneliness is associated with negative emotions such as Depession,Anxiety,unhappiness,dissatisfaction and Shyness. In this state, individuals also feels adjustment problem with others.

Many researches investigating the effect of loneliness on mind have shown that continued state of Loneliness in a person creates Social phobia in them (a kind of Anxiety disorder,in which social situation becomes impossibly frightening that a person totally avoids them as a way to protect themselves from Embarrassment and Humiliation).

Lots of research work has been found to explore the relationship between Loneliness and mind. Studies have shown that an individual who is in a state of isolation, his/her brain functions differently in comparison to normal person.

Lonely people tend register negative thoughts and feelings more and sometimes relate it as physical pain or threat. Keeping oneself alone for longer time can increse the risk of memory impairements,sleeplessness and Heart diseases. Many studies have also shown that living alone or unattached from others also incraeses the risk of Early deaths and Suicide.
