Describe how a placebo is used in research studies.

Placebo refers to the drug or a treatment which has no physiological or therapeutic effect .The subject in the research has only psychological effect that some things is given to them. The subjects or observed by comparing with the actual subjects who are expected to have the therapist effect .

For example

An invention of a new drug /Vaccind for a particular medical condition (COVID 19) is in research

Here this particular vaccine is administered to one group of subject and observed for its therapeutic effects .Simultaneously another group who are not actually given the real vaccine or the drug and given sugar pill instead and observed for the effect. This effect is called as placebo effect and the sugar pull as placebo .

This method is followed because mind is the ultimate power which can make one feel healthy and vice versa. The research is compared for the actual effect a subject feels when the original medication and a placebo is given.
