Expert Solution

Chronic diseases such as cardiovascular conditions, cancer and stroke are the major leading medical conditions in the United States. For having a sustainable inoact on the prevention of such chronic diseases and maintaining and promoting good health role of public health law is critical. If I had te powers to enact laws to prevent chronic illnes I would enact the following laws:

1. Law againts cigarette selling of tobacco to underage children and near places such as educational institutions, hospitals, Children parks, etc. In this way we can stop early smoking habbit formation and prevent lung cancer development due to smoking.

2. Law to prevent selling of high salt, sugar and fat food products to children and obese population. The consumption of junk food which is loaded with higher salt, sugar and fat is leading reason for cardiovascular conditions and obesity. By rationing the food products we can strictly restrict the intake of such products and nudge this particular population towards healthy lifestyle

3. Law to provide incentives for health improvement and transformation. The individuals who have chronic medical conditions and take up helathy lifestyle and prevent chronic disease progression can be given incentives such as discounts in helath insurance, healthy food products purchase, etc. By this law we can help people self motivate and tranform into a helathy society overall

Therefore, the power of law is one of most important and critical in chronic disease prevention and reshaping the society, culture and country to effectively combat chronic disease and lead a healthy lifestyle throughout.
