b. Carefully explain four (4) ways by which Health Promotion can
contribute to Community
Empowerment.
c. State two (2) possible disadvantages of community participation
in health programmes.
a) Health education is the process of being aware people about their and other's health by exploring them about various common health problems that can arise in their community.
Health promotion is a process of increase the quality and availability of health care and proper distribution of services to the people for better quality of living.
So health education and health promotion are not a same thing.
b) The 3 core eras of health promotion are -- Health education,
Prevention of disease,
Protection of people.
i. Health education = it is attempt taken by the health care providers to be aware the people about there health, some common illness, easy available and accessable health care services, involve people in there care.
ii. Prevention = prevention are the steps taken by the people to stop farther progression of disease or disabilities. It is three types they are - primordial prevention ( measures taken prior to the onset of disease), primary prevention ( measures taken to prevent the cause of the disease), secondary prevention ( this is the steps taken immediately after the onset of the disease) and tertiary prevention ( it is the measures taken to prevent the complications of the disease or reduce the disabilities of a disease).
Protection = it is the measures taken by the people to protect them from the unwanted accidental incidents, trauma, infection, or any emergency condition.
c) The three main models of health are - Behaviour change model, social model and Ottawa charter for health.
Behaviour change model is sayes about the change some health related imporper behaviour into good behaviours to prevent the illness. It is possible by providing a good health education to the people.
Social model is sayes about the community people involvement in there own health wellbeing. It is possible by collaborative care.
Ottawa charter for health mode is sayes about the 5 health promotion actions and basic prerequisite components of health and they are peace, shelter, food, shelter, source of income etc. This is the basic elements of health promotion.
Q3. a) Community empowerment means enabling community people to increase control over life mainly about the factors and decission that can be safe their life. Collaboration of various sectors of community development makes possible this thing.
