US healthcare system faces in regard to cost, quality, and access (equity). Namely:

Cost:      1) The US spends the most on healthcare costs

            2) Healthcare costs are rising faster than wages

Quality:   1) The US has some of the worst health outcomes among all countries

                2) Quantity rather than quality of care is reimbursed

                3) Adverse drug events cost $3.5 billion, and result in 700,000 emergency

department visits, and 120,000 hospitalizations annually

Access/ 1) Health disparities exist between groups

Equity:   2) Unequal access to services disproportionately affecting poor, rural & minority

                     groups

               3) We have a shortage of primary care providers

For each of these areas (cost, quality, and access/equity), propose at least 1 solution and list at least 1 possible barrier to implementing that solution.

Expert Solution

It is very difficult to examine all the aspects reagrding cost ,quality,access/equity but although simplifies the whole discussion with just ! solution to this problem. It can be addressed by maintaining hospitals plans and policies in a proper way where it cannot be terminated or disrespected in any way.EaCH aspect should have an individual policy like quality policy, equity policy, cost wages policy etc. There will be only little choice to create a solution but can be availably for analysis in these areas. The relative weakness in each aspect can be sorted out by appointing administrators or managers for each area and close monitoring to be done which can be much helpful to the organisation and also to the public.

Possible barriers are many for such problems like inadequate measures of the quality of care, lack of alignment among payers, lack of data setting payment amounts, negative impact on hospitals regarding equity, sometimes lack of patient engagement.
