Advanced practise nursing specialities are developing worldwide and their need is also increasing in a steady rate as there is increase in primary care provider and preventive care.
There are many emerging specialities in nursing , for example: Clinical nurse specialists, Clinical nurse anaesthesists, etc.
Advanced practise nurses provide co ordinated care. The nurses usually work with doctors ,patients and public. They serve as a bridge between doctors and patients. The nurses have knowledge near to doctors. In past nurses cannot work autonomously they always depend on doctors for the emergency care, prescription for drugs and preventive care. But in advanced care nursing practise the nurses are subjected to advanced practises which make them more skillful towards patient care , greater decision making abilities and expertised in assessment as well as diagnosing and prescribing medications needed. They also play significant role in providing preventive health education .
Advanced role of a nurse allow them to provide emergency care even in absence of a physician in a primary care setting. They are allowed to work autonomous. They have rights to admit a patient to hospital , prescribe needed laboratory investigations and refer them to other essential professional physician which saves more time and lives of patient in need. There are more need of physicians and nurses in future.
The are more restrictions worldwide for becoming advanced care practise nurses. Institutional , cultural and regulatory barriers affect the role of advanced practitioner. Even the affordable care act lacks to determine advanced care practise nurses and also lack or delay in reimbursement for the nurses which is becoming a hurdle in increasing the number of advanced speciality nurses.
The lack of knowlege regarding the role (advanced practise specialist nurse). lack of experience is prevalent. So the rules and regulations towards becoming an APRN scope of their practise should be explained , rules regulations and other necessary requirements including certification and loans or scholarships should be provided by the government.
There is more need for advanced practise registered nurses as they play a significant role in preventive health care and act as primary care provider.
