Clinical nurse specialist ( CNS)
CNS are registered nurses,who have graduate level nursing preparation at the master's or doctoral level as a CNS. They are clinical experts in evidence based nursing practice within a speciality area, treating and managing the health concerns of patients and population.
A review of state laws be and regulations reveals that since 2010, eight states have granted CNS has the authority to practice without a physician's supervision and six have given CNS's independent authority to prescribe drugs and durable medical equipment.
