The goal of interprofessional practice is achieving patient safety and outcomes. Nurses play a unique role in interprofessional rounds in promoting patient safety and health outcomes. Inter-professional Nursing practice reduces the medical errors, length of stay of the patient in the hospital, and health care costs. The main purpose of inter-professional nursing is to assess the patient condition and to improve the progress of the patient. The nurses receive education through the collaborative practice.
This literature review identifies the importance of inter-professional collaborative practice and nurses input in Interprofessional rounds. The results show that the nurses provide maximum input during the rounds and they discussed about the issues related to healthcare.
An exploratory descriptive design was used in this study. An observational data was collected through questionnaire. The sample was collected as per the convenience. No standardized instrument was used. The bias is that the nurses are assessed and observed but not validated. Nurses provide with a clear picture of their roles and responsibilities in inter-professional practice. Nurses realize their contribution to the Inter-professional practice of healthcare team.
Collaborative practice is achieved through effective communication. This will improve the patient safety and quality care. Collaborative practice enhance decision-making and to obtain optimize patient care. Interprofessional communication achieves efficient patient outcomes and improves patient satisfaction. Communication help nurses to work together, share responsibilities, and to make decisions.
