Interest groups also called as Pressure groups or Lobby groups are defined as the groups or associations of the individuals that are having common interests and are working to promote these interests and to influence the public policies according to their own wishes and in their favour. So far as activities of Interest group in America are concerned they affect the govt. policies by lobbying i.e. by pressuring various branches of the govt. to promote the interests of the group or we can say that they usually look for the things that benefit the groups themselves not the society i.e. their main focus is to benefit the minority group keeping aside the benefits of the majority of the society. They also promote a large no. of criminal activities such as corruption, theft, bribery etc. so that they could get large amount of money to fullfill the desires of the groups.
Thus , despite various positive activities of the Interest group in America such as promotion of democracy , creation of various changes in the society and providing solutions to various problems , the negative aspects cannot be ignored. So, in order to maintain a balance in the American society the activities of Interest groups should be allowed but to a limited extend, so that they could not harm the society.
