Buddhism and science have been a talking point in science and religion dialogue. The philosophic teachings of Buddhism share similarities with modern science. Dharma-Vicaya activity of Buddhism encourages an imperative investigation of nature. Some principle concepts in Buddhism connect to evolution, cosmology, and quantum theory. Jean Peagut argued that Buddhism is the fourth mode of thought in his theory of cognitive development. Since the earliest period of history, Buddhism has been described as non-dogmatic and rational. Many Buddhist followers are open to scientific discoveries. The 14th Dalai Lama described that casualty and empiricism are the commonalities between science and Buddhism.
Several studies have suggested that Buddhist meditation could
provide insights into a wide range of psychological phenomena. In
1974, a Buddhist teacher Chögyam Trungpa predicted that "Buddhism
will come to the West as psychology".Several modern psychological
thoughts such as Rogerian psychology exhibit strong similarities
with Buddhism.
