What is human trafficking?

Trapping of people using voilence and exploiting them for personal benefits is human trafficking. Human beings are used as a trade for forced labor, sexual exploitation and child labor.

What is slavery?

Modern slavery is a broad term that includes a number of unethical practices. It is a condition in which a person is being owned by other. Modern slavery includes forced marrriage, forced labor, child slavery, human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation. In slavery victims are forced to work through voilence.

Can they be used interchangeably:

Practically, human trafficking victims are transported from one place to another with the aim of enslavememt and the exploitation that victims have to suffer after they are being transported to other places is slavery.

Both these terms are different but people use them interchangeably.

How does slavery impact women and children:

​​​​It is estimated that 40 million people are trapped in modern slavery all over the world:

• Out of which one-fourth of them are children. They are used for child domestic slavery, child trafficking and child marriages.
• More than 70% of them are women and girls. They are suffering from forced sexual exploitation.
• It also includes 5 years old girls.
• Women face sexual voilence from their traffickers, raped by their masters, forced to work as domestic workers in private home.
• Some girls are forced to marry at a very young age with older men where they are forced to live under the control of their husband and they are not allowed to do anything without the permission of their husband.
• These slaved women face discrimination from the society and have to face many problems to educate their children.
• Instead of helping them police officers also try to harass them sexually.
