Things I can do to increase the wages –

1. Get comfortable while negotiating salary hikes.

You should be comfortable with your employer. You can insist them to make you wages grow on the basis of the work performed by you. This is no bad thing.

2. Become an indispensable expert.
   Continue to learn about your line of work, so that you stay current with trends and developments. Your strategy might include going to industry conferences, reading industry publications or setting up regular lunch meetings with others in your field to exchange information and ideas. This is a key to increasing your salary.
3. Make yourself visible.

Network and mingle, making sure you are continually visible to others in your industry and your workplace. At work, take on difficult challenges and make sure that management is aware of your contributions. It’s important in any organization that you make yourself visible in front of others.

4. Update your skills.
   Consider training or certifications that could lead to a promotion. Some jobs require an MBA or other post graduate degrees, get as much education as possible.

Apart from these things, there are many other things also that can be done that can influence the wages of an individual.

But these techniques cannot be used when it comes to make the economy’s wages high than before. These are the things that can be by the employee at the individual level and not the economy level. For a larger level, various factors including poverty measures and unemployment rate are considered by the employer while determining the wages.
