The different types of conflict we can seen in William Faulkner's short story ''A Rose for Emily.'' This is the story of an aging woman during the Restoration period in the South.
# The conflict between person versus self . It was an internal struggle of Emily. The internal conflict of emily was her struggle between she and the reality. She refuses to accept that she is no longer living in antebellum south. Because backroom deals could be made to evade taxes. Emily refuses to accept her father's death for three days. Afterwards her intentions marrying' homer barron 'who has admitted that 'he liked men' and 'was not a marrying man,' further demonstrates her inability to understand the truth. Instead of making the adjustments to her thinking that are necessary to retain her sanity, Emily attempts to manipulate the outside world into conforming with her delusions.
# The conflict between person versus society . One of the struggle Emily has with society is her refusal to pay taxes.Emily used to say.Emily's neighbor also shown socitial conflict when the judge refuses to cite emily for the horrid smell that coming from her home. The government officials didnt take care of that problem. But a group of men started to react. Four men slunk about the house of Emily like thiefs .they broke open and sprinkled lime there.
