Part 1: Reflect on the scenario.

You are a registered nurse who works with wound care patients. J. S. is a 34 year-old woman who had a mastectomy six weeks ago. She developed a staph infection and the surgical site was debrided as part of the treatment.

You now care for J. S. at her home and photograph her wound. The photos are sent to the multidisciplinary care team at the wound center. The team makes changes in the treatment plan based on your assessment and photographs of the wound. A physician in a nearby state also has a weekly video conference with J. S. about the plan of care.

J.S is a 34year_old woman recently underwent for mastectomy.. mastectomy is the medical term for the surgical removal of one or both breasts partially or completely..she developed a staph infection,staph infection or staphylococcus infection is an infection caused by number of the staphylococcus genus of bacteria.. wound debridement was done in the surgical site..

Now nurse is in J.S home fof care she took photo graph of her wound and the photos sent to the multidisciplinary care team at the wound center..The team makes changes in the treatment plan according to the assessment and photographs of the wound..phys physi near by her state having video conference about her treatment..Tele medical wound care is one of the applications of Tele dermatology..

Tele health concern:

The photographs allowed the team to diagnose and evaluate the chronic wounds periodically..in the present case telemedicine allowed to have a rapid evaluation,diagnosis and treatment..the images were of enough quality for usage and small enough to be sent through email to physician who gave immediately feedback..The team member was confident to give therapeutic recommendation in this way and this method will be very cost_effective saving the patient and the health care system,especially in transportation..

Telehealth service relies on two basic forms like video conferencing store and forward.... combination of digital images,videoconferencing and phone communication allows for quick and effective reassessment when complications was there..

Tele medicine liability::

Telemedicine is a good source for efficiency and cost savings but it may increase liability for the provider utilizing it...medical malpractice, insurance coverage is must along with proper risk management for new exposures from telemedicine..exposu ex and insurance issues associated with tele-radiology provided some of the pitfalls of telemedicine.

Home telehealth devices and sensors designed to detect falls gathered and transmit activities in yhe thouse hold that a patient unoccupied at particular time..HIPAA provides confidentially information to be stored in the telemedicine,HIPAA however applies only to covered entities _health care providers and insurer,not to patient..Food and Drug Administration(FDA) provides patient safety but not patient privacy..Federal Trade Commission(FTC) creating and enforce telehealth privacy and security regulations..compre compreh standards and regulations may be increase the concern toward patient care..

Limitation:

The main limitation could be non_availability of TM facilitation center in rural areas...poor quality of images(pixelisation)of the image and perspective distortion may lead to clinically important difference between an electronically transmitted photo and direct examination..this can lead to error diagnosis and management plan..
