As a Registered Nurse, you will be asked eventually to care for a patient who makes you uncomfortable or fearful (Ex. a homeless person with lice, a prisoner, a person with a highly infectious disease).
1. The best way to deal with these type of patient is trying to create a good therapeutic nurses Patient relationship,instilling the confidence and trust that they can be treated by the nurses than a physician.
The patient has to be handled in a way that the nurses has the knowledge and capability to take the right decision and help the sick to recover faster
2. You cannot refuse to be involved in the Care of patients because of their condition or the nature of their health problems .
Patients are allowed to refuse Care as long as they understand their particular medical situation and the potential risk and benefit they're assuming.the reason for the refusal is not as important as the process by which the decision to refuse is made.
3. The code of ethics for nurses developed by the American nurses association ( ANA) makes explicit the primary goals, values and obligations of the profession..it is a succinct statement of the ethical obligations and duties of every individual who enters the nursing profession

While the foundational values if nursing do not change , The code is regularly updated to reflect changes in health care structure , financing , and delivery . It supports nurses in providing consistency respectful , humane , and dignified care.

It binds nurses of support each other so that all nurses can fulfill their ethical and professional obligations. The code is a reflection of the proud ethical heritage of nursing.
