Why do plants photosynthesize? Would a plant be able to survive if it did not photosynthesize ever? Why/why not? How are animals such as ourselves able to get by without being able to photosynthesize?
1. First, we should know what is photosynthesis. " Photosynthesis is the process where green plants convert the light energy into the chemical energy that can be later on used by the plant itself or by other organisms."
2. During photosynthesis produce energy and stores until they need it. For the survival of plants, they also need energy which they produce by themselves with the help of chlorophyll which is present in it.
3. Plants can not survive without photosynthesis. Growing plants and surviving without photosynthesis is only for a bit of time period. If we say it in case of larger plants they won't die early because there might be some energy stored previously which they can use and when this stored energy gets over the plant eventually die.
4. Photosynthesis is done by green plants to generate energy as said before. animals can not do photosynthesis because the machinery required for it is not present in animals. Animals do not possess chlorophyll like plants and animals are heterotrophs whereas plants are autotrophs means they can produce their own food. Animals are heterotrophs so they can not produce their own food and they are dependent on the plants for their food and get survive.
