How would you instill two (2) Quality and Performance levels as a new APN.
ANSWER:-
* APN( Advanced Practice Nurse) is a nurse with post graduate education in nursing.
* QUALITY is the degree to which the health care reach desired outcome .
* When quality of care improves the performance also improve.
* EXAMPLE:- When quality improvement focus on to decrease hospital acquired infections the cost of hospitalization (performance improvement ) also decreases.
* APN utilizes extended and expanded skills,experience and knowledge in assessment ,planning,implementation ,diagnosis and evaluation of the care required.
* They are prepared to work in either as a specialist or as a generalist.
* They apply high degree of knowledge,skill and experience within the nurse-patient relationship to achieve optimal outcomes through critical analysis,problem solving and evidence based decision making.
*Numerous studies have conducted comparing the patient outcomes of care provided by physicians and APNs.
* The conclusion indicate that the outcomes of care by APNs in collaboration with physians is comparable and in some instances better than care alone by a physician alone.
* Studies have concluded that APN care is safe ,cost effective, and results in similar clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction as compared to care by physicians alone.
* ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE can utilize her knowledge and skill in finding out problems in health care by collecting data,analyze it,identify the solutions and put it in practise.
* Evidence -based practice helps to improve quality of care and performance outcome and there by increased patient satisfaction.
* APN has ability for critical analysis and problem solving, which is very important in quality and performance improvement.
