As a leader of a health care organization, you are tasked with developing policies and procedures for the Employee Code of Conduct. The current policy is outdated and needs revision. What research would you need to conduct to prepare? Are there leaders on your team who you would consult? Would you consult employees? Develop a plan and describe, in a 1,000- to 1,250-word essay, how you would accomplish this task and achieve the desired outcome.

Employee code of conduct is important in an organisation as it clarifies the principles, values and mission of an organization

Explanation:

Employee code of conduct is integral in an organization as it defines the acceptable social norms and behaviors in an organization (Adam & Rachman-Moore, 2004). Therefore, it is important to ensure the policies and procedures related to the code of conduct are simplified. To prepare for the development of policies and procedures, my research will be focused on different areas. First, I will research the impact of a code of conduct on an organization's culture. This research will provide a clear picture of the expected cultural ramifications of the employee code of conduct. Another area of research is on the laws and regulations that have an impact on the organization. Information from this research will be used in building the cope of the code of conduct. Also, the specific legal areas that require strict compliance will be brought out. Third, my research will be focused on the ethical dilemmas faced in the organization in the past. In addition, the ethical dilemmas to be faced in the future will be researched. (Lee et al., 2014) notes that adopted information on ethical dilemmas ensures the code of conduct highlights the employees' issues. Another research area is on the changes that have been present in the organization. Research carried out on this will provide an outline of the specific areas that need to be addressed.

There are specific leaders that I would consult. The leaders include the human resource manager, head of corporate communications, and the nurse leader. These leaders will provide important information that relates to the employees of the employees and changes made. I would also consult the employees as they have to understand the different aspects of the code. Employees will provide important information on the specific areas they feel need to be changed.

To accomplish this task, I will follow four basic steps. The first step is gathering the necessary information. In this step, the focus will be on compiling ideas to show what the code of conduct should include. The values in the mission statement of the company will be considered in this step. The second step is the creation of the draft. As brought out by Lee et al., 2014), The code of ethics draft should include identifying the topic, core principle definition, and the guidelines to be followed. Step three is providing the code of conduct to the respective parties for adoption. Here, I will present the draft to the leadership of the organization for approval. The fourth step introduces the code to the employees and related members to ensure it is well implemented. In this step, comments related to the policies and procedures must be noted for further changes.
