Let us assume that you are a health care administrator. Management of any health care organization contains many challenges, but also provides equal opportunities.

As we are aware there are four levels of long term care available:

A Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)

An Assisted Living Facility

Subacute & Acute Care

A Community Senior Housing Program

As a health care administrator, discuss how would you integrate each level of service? Include in your discussion the challenges you would encounter during such an operation. Also, discuss, how would you address them and describe opportunities presented as you proceed with your challenges.

As a health care administrator, i would try to integrate each level of long term health care service. First of all i would focus on bridging the communication gap between each level. Then i would build up the better coordination between each level. Then i would regularly conduct joint seminars and training programs which will involve the healthcare workers from each level such that they can share their ideas, experience and challenges. I would also focus on the effective information sharing between each level. This is how i would try to integrate each level of long term health care service.

The challenges faced by me during the integration of each level of service are :-

• Lack of adequate funding and financial issues.
• Work force limitations.
• Communication gap between each level.
• Lack of leadership at each level.
• Improper consistency in the mechanism for funding.
• Lack of properly trained and educated workers at each level.

I will try to deal with each and every challenges that i face during the integration process. I would develop leadership track and succession plan at each level. I would try to generate the adequate funding sources for this process. I would focus on the better communication and coordination between each level and worker education. I would hire additional workers to reduce the workload.
