Osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease, is the most common form of arthritis. The cause of osteoarthritis is unknown, but the condition is typically associated with aging. It's no suprise, then, that more prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs are being marketed to aging baby boomers. Discuss the current spate of products and related advertising, including events that may result in taking a drug off the market.

Please write or type all answers/responses that are legible and understandable. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

The media shared a good fraction of its coverage for advertisements rather than entertainments. The market of medical products like OTC drugs had a decent status in that. The advertisements are generated in such a way that the public would feel they are in the suspected category of people who have indications to use the subject drug and the content of the advertisement is made in such a way that frontline artists are chosen to act in it. Many examples can be noted like the ones for Xylometazoline drops, Acetaminophen tablets , Multivitamin tablets, emergency contraceptive pills, weight management supplements etc. The strategy is almost the same for all the companies. Many such advertisements have been already banned either due to ban on the product or due to misleading content or due to very poor status of results or increased abuse or even increased unindicated use or increased number of augmented and bizzare ADRs.

Please do not hesitate to give thumbs up. All the best. Happy learning. Stay safe.
