construct a table comparing the structure of the three major types of cartilage tissue. include in the column:location of specific cartilage, composition of the matrix, concentration of chondrocytes, strength of the tissue. cite a minimum of two locations for each.

Expert Solution

Cartilage is a non-vascular and flexible connective tissue located throughout the body which provides support and cushioning for adjacent tissues and bones.

Chondrocytes are the main cells in cartilage. The ground substance is chondroitin sulfate and the sorrounding fibrous sheath is called perichondrium. Three types of cartilage are there as below mentioned.

Hyaline, Fibrous, and Elastic cartilage.

Cartilage Structure Location compostion of matrix concentration of chondrocytes strength of tissue
Hyaline Simple structure and glassy apprearance Found on many joint surfaces and the rib tips

Matrix is primarily made of type 2 collagen and chondroitin sulphate.

Consist of cells of angular form. Cells have straight outlines. Very tough and have tensile strength
Fibrous White fibrocartilage consists of a mixture of white fibrous tissue and cartilaginous tissue Found in pubic symphysis, temporal mandibular joint Thick layers of dense collagen fibres. Matrix contains type1 and 2 collagens. Many chondrocytes are located within their lacunae and are spaced between the fibers. Tough and dense in nature
Elastic Contains elastic fiber networks and collagen fibers. Found in epiglottis and the pinnae Elastic fibres forms bundles which gives great flexibility Chondrocytes are found in a threadlike network of elastic fibres within the matrix Greater flexibility due to fibres.

Construct a table that illustrates the structure and function of the glycocalyx, ECM, 3 types of cytoskeletal elements, and the 3 types of cell-cell junctions. In the table include the specific macromolecules that make up these structures, specific properties these structures give to the cell or tissue. Give one example of a tissue or cell whose properties depend on each of these structures.

Please provide a presentation, in table form, of the primary tissue types found in plants. Include the cell types making up each tissue type and provide a description of the tissue/cells and the function of the tissue. Make sure to include: dermal, ground and vascular, epidermal, parenchyma, collenchyma, sclerenchyma, xylem, phloem, vessels, tracheids, sieve tube elements, companion cells, fibers, sclereids.

Q:Select one application of tissue engineering on different types of tissues other than cartilage, bone and vascular. Define the properties of the tissue and explain what type of materials would be potential to use. How would you fabricate this scaffold? What would be possible techniques that you do in order to increase your scaffolds’ regeneration capacity? You should always consider the host response and immune rejection while designing your ideal scaffold.
