How are market research and marketing strategy connected? Which is the best type of research – primary or secondary research? What role does each type of research play? Would you conduct primary or secondary research first? Why?
Market research and marketing strategy are connected as both are important for each other . Market research gives valuable insight to shape your marketing strategy and various plans . It boosts your marketing strategy . All what is need in during marketing strategy is only given by market research. We can say that market research is a backbone of marketing strategy. As marketing strategy must be backed by sound research to provide effective approach to offering your products and services. Market research allows us to find information about target market or customers and this in turn will be helpful in building a better marketing strategy and will finally lead to business growth and customer satisfaction.
Both the primary and secondary research are best. Both h some pros and cons . But in my opinion , primary research is best . As this type of research the data is collected by the researcher by their own rather than depending on data collected from previously done research. It is "pinpointed" type of research as it carried around a specific issue and the focus is on the solution. Basically, it fills the gap by identifying specific needs.
Role of primary and secondary research:
The main role of primary research is to gather information and answer question that have not been asked before. It fills in the gap by identifying specific needs.
The main role of secondary research is to provide the data which has been collected earlier by some researcher. It helps researcher to understand the problem thoroughly through the earlier findings. It gives us a foundation to build on.
Firstly ,I will conduct secondary research because through this we can better understand our research problem. It gives us a foundation to build on. After that I will conduct primary research as after taking idea from the second research it would be easy to conduct primary research now.
