What role does mutual goal setting between learner and educator play in changing learner behavior?
Mutual goal setting involving
learner and the educator, helps the learner to acknowledge the
goals to be achieved by him and dedicate efforts to achieve the
goals as per the benchmark parameters mutually agreed upon by the
learner in the guidance of the educator. It brings the positive
change in the learner behavior in terms of positive motivation to
achieve the goals, show higher level of involvement and bring
necessary action. As a result, there is a higher degree of
probability for the learner to achieve the goals. Besides, it
brings positive change in the perception of the learner and he
develops trust upon the educator. It helps to streamline the
different components of emotions such as affective, Behavioral and
cognitive components. It also contributes in developing an
engagement level in the learner.
It is the technique also used in the management by objective method
of management in the organization where the employers and employees
work together to set the mutually agreed objectives.
