How important is the family in mediating the effects of the youth subculture and the potential allure of gangs? How can the family prevent delinquency?
There are many factors which influence a child for e.g. their family, peers, society. Hence as children turn into adoslcents, they turn to various sub cultures for their acceptance. This youth are shaped according to the norms of groups, therefore they have subsequent role in te level of delinquency. There are some domianant cultures, in which individuals share common beleifs or characterstics, they have their own set of ideas, eg political ideas, to rule the city join political processions. Such acts can lead them to delinquency. Now a days addiction to smoking, drinking has also become a common factor, these individauls share a common ideas of life or lifestyle, or their parents share more or less same characterstcics. Addiction to drugs etc can lead to delinquency
Family, society can turn sub culture to counter sub culture (youth which rejects ideas of sub culture and have their own set of beleifs, thinking and ideas). THe more individual discusses his/her ideas with family the less liekly he/she is to be the part of juvinile deliquency. It is often seen that children who are rejected by the parents grow up with considreable conflict. The support, intimacy, warmth which family shows can make teenager feel acceptable than going more into peer groups
