What role does media play in China?
China being a communist nation has lot of censorship over the media. International media organizations are not allowed in China and even if they are allowed they are being given very less liberty to publish and broadcast things which are happening in China.
The loyalty is first considered to be towards the ruling Communist party, then to the governments such as local and national and then to the people.
Chinese media is generally controlled by the ruling party and the media houses only publish things which are permitted by the government. It is a known fact that the suppression of news is not a new practice in China and to stop the news from international sources the Chinese government has blocked the world’s top search engine in its country.
The Chinese media generally works as a mouth piece of the communist government and helps in spreading the propaganda of the communist party.
A few media organizations that does in depth reporting and try to bring the trust out in front of the people are always suppressed and communist leaders are seen speaking very harshly about them on bigger platforms.
The Chinese media in recent years has also tried to spread its propaganda in other Asian countries such as Nepal, Pakistan and India so that they can show the world and neighbouring countries how good government they have and how successful they have become.
As we have discussed the Chinese media shows very less responsibility towards its people and does not generally target its government and the reason for that is simple because the country is ruled by a communist government and speaking against it can bring the question of survival in front of the media houses.
