Elder or senior abuse is, most unfortunately, not a localized or rare occurrence. Types of senior abuse include abandonment, emotional, physical, or psychological abuse, neglect and even sexual assault.
More and more we are hearing of instances of care givers taking advantage or abusing patients they have been entrusted to provide care for. With the internet and so many social networking sites, it is getting harder and harder to cover up these instances but they still occur nonetheless and they can be hard to prove.
Explain the importance of reporting instances of elder abuse, how one can recognize it, and what the reporting requirements are.
It is very unfortunate that elder or senior abuse are occurring and it is more heart taking that it is very hard to prove in this technological Era.
It is very important to report the instances of elder abuse because they are in their later part of their life and most of them are helpless and when some person is sent to take care of them and instead of taking care they abuse them, it is very unethical.
All the citizens are equal and when sexual assaults are done on young girls, there are many rules to to cover up but when it comes to elders there are no strict rules and no efforts are given in order to investigate such issues.
Government should appoint officers that visit regularly to the elders to which care takers are given. Care takers should constantly be questioned by officers.
Reporting requirements would be a statement from elders who are assaulted and safety after they give statements about care takers.
