Explain a recent incident or situation at your work place, or in another work place that you are familiar with, that required ethical judgement. Provide the necessary details to explain why there was an ethical dilemma or issue.
Below is the answer to your question.
In an ethical dilemma, one should be very clear about what would be the consequences. The past cases are evidence that the whistleblower always gets in trouble for doing the right thing.
There are many types of dilemma and it depends on person to person, how they handle the situation.
I was working for a software company which produces ERP. The managers are quite clear about the time limits. The manager asked me to complete my work in that time only which suggesting cut corners on security as the time limit was less. I understood the failure to that is not an option and if the ERP is made on time then the manager doesn't have any problem. In that position, I politely asked the boss if he is asking me to ignore safety rules to get the product delivered on time by which the user may face serious issues in near future. The boss denied that which has given me the more solid ground if the product couldn't be made without looking from the angle of security. The main reason behind the ethical dilemma was due to the limit of time in which product should be made, the user didn't say anything about the security but, looking at the threats if security is not taken seriously would result in a loss of data, professional, private and public information.
