Communication the most basic and important thing to be practiced effectively to heal a patient.
The common barriers to effective communication are, use of jargon, emotional barrier, taboos,difference in perception and view point,poor listenting, Physical disabilities,Non verbal communication,language
One incident during the professional experience where a newly joined Nurse came for her first duty. She attended all the patient calls and assessed in doing most of the patient care, busy checking with all new outcomes excitedly.The nurse went for Doctor's round with her senior ,during the rounds the next bed patient was in need of something.So she stopped there and asked for, what she could do for the patient..The patient verbalised his needs.But the Nurse was unable to understand for quiet a long time. She took a help from the local work person and sorted the issue.The problem faced by the Nurse was a Language barrier .
