Expert Solution

Meritocracy refers to vesting power and resources on those who are talented, skilled and knowledgeable rather than through inheritance such as social class or wealth. This would mean that those who perform well in the assessments for the power and position in the society and government would be able to get them and no one would receive it just because they have some inheritance. Industrialization created the need for talented people to take up the work and manage the industries thus, equality in terms of opportunity helped many ordinary people to make it to the top positions including the president of the country. This paved way for those who are eligible to lead both private and government organizations with their talents and skills which they achieved through their high IQ level, organizational skills, people skills, emotional intelligence, reasoning ability and the ability to manage people and events effectively. Meritocracy forced people to develop many IQ and EQ tests that are in place today to judge the best talents in the world without promoting people based on their social influence as happened before the pre-industrialized societies. Almost all the government and private companies have placed many stringent assessments in order to assess the best talents in the world in order to move their organizations to the next level.
