Please give examples of just and unjust societies in general terms as well as specific examples. What makes them just or unjust?
The disparity between rich and poor in terms of income and wealth is a big issue. Wealth has always accumulated unevenly. The wealthy have always had a disproportionate share of the power.
I think historical evidence strongly suggests that it is a problem for society if it gets too large. There is no shortage of critics who say it is detrimental and the gap needs to be closed. The fight starts with proposals for reversing the trend. However, I'd like to read the opinion of someone who thinks it beneficial or thinks we should do nothing to change it. I posed this question to one of our local 1%ers. He agreed it was an important question, promised to give it thought, and get back to me. I'm still waiting with great eagerness, but no criticism as we just need another chance meeting.
Historically, I am reminded of Henry Ford paying his workers double the prevailing wage so they could afford to buy the products he/they made. Between that and the evolution of labor unions, the American middle classes was greatly expanded and the country prospered.
