Discuss three ways Affirmative Action and Equal Employment policies affect the hiring process in the US.
Affirmative action program is a tool used in management to ensure that there is equal opportunity for all individuals when recruiting, hiring, training, promoting, and compensating the individuals. They use a statistical analysis to ensure that the labor pool represents the demographics of the region and addresses issues if certain groups are underrepresented.
a)Any organizations can implement the law, however, in government establishments , it is mandatory to enforce this program due to the law. b) the affirmative action program can be enforced on any firm by the federal agency or court order. C) the law requires the firm to hire individuals from all races and communities , including equal representation of women and minorities.
According to the equal employment policies, there cannot be discriminations for employment in terms of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, gender identity. This policy of non-discrimination applies to hiring, training, advancement, promotion, demotion, transfer, selection for lay-off, termination, compensation, and benefits.
Based on the policy the organization cannot discriminate based on their color, religion, race, national origin, sex including pregnancy, mental or physical disability and age during hiring. Any private organization with more than 15 employees who has worked for the organization for more than 15 weeks, have to comply with the equal employment opportunities policies. Recruiting firms have to comply with the EEOC policies regardless of the number of employees. The US department of labor ensures that the companies that they do business with, follow the EEOC policies.
