Identify and describe the forms of nonverbal communications which affect how we interpret verbal communications. Provide examples to support your response.
There are different forms of nonverbal communication :
1. Body movement and posture.- It's not a word which we use to communicate it's our body language which speaks more than our words. Our physical behaviour our expression express louder than our words. While interacting with another person we are offering and accepting many incoherent signals. All of our non-verbal behaviour- our indication or our gesture, our attitude or our posture, our statements or our voice or tone, a touch, association or our eye contact offering a strong message.
2. Facial expressions. Our facial expression is immensely articulate. Our face is our first expression to impress others. A positive face expression can create a big impact on others Without saying any word, our expressive face able to transmit our endless emotions.
3. Gestures. – Dressing up yourself in your daily life is showing your gesture. Our hands when we are talking to somebody generally explicit our behaviour. Yet the meaning of the good gesture is expressing the culture of the country also. · For example: In middle east countries conversation with others and looking your watch can be a rude look. In Arabic culture, once the conversation started it will take time to finish it off. English speaking countries like Germany Russia etc. OK, hand sign can not show a good gesture.
4. Eye contact: Eye contact is essential to continue the flow of the conversation. It is a very strong and important non-verbal communication which speaks more than verbal communication. The way you look into the other eyes and speak that can convey different meanings. It includes your excitement, interest, your appeal, emotions, goodwill.
5.Touch. A loose handshake, a worm beat affection or hug, pat on the head or on the back can communicate a strong deal of touch.
6. Space: Uncomfortable space like a person is standing too close or too far is also showing bad non-verbal communication. It also depends upon the culture but we all need an ideal physical distance. It also shows our attraction, affection, domination.
7. Voice. .Your voice or your tone express different meanings. How you speak or how you say your things to someone that matter what you are actually trying to say. For example, a teacher can be loud in the school assembly. Same time if a teacher is talking to one child in the same tone then it's called shouting.
Non-verbal communication expresses the quality of your conversation. It acknowledges your message and received the correct way of communication. Business meetings, teacher and films are the perfect examples of nonverbal communication it cues when you are talking to your employees or your audience.
