In: Operations Management
Just having the policy does not mean that it is also implemented on the ground. Similarly, if the organization has a clear Diversity and inclusion policy without proper implementation or application in its regular practice and operations, it will not result in a supportive and inclusive workplace. For this, it is important that the organization promotes the environment of mutual trust, support, and collaboration among the employees.
There must be transparency in the policy implementation, and it must be reflected in the processes and operations of the organization. There must be an initiative from the top management to promote and protect the diversity in the organization by promoting and facilitating the job opportunities to the marginal section of the society and minorities. Thus in order to have the proper inclusion and supportive workplace, not only the policy formulation but its implementation and the involvement of the top management in it are the basic requirements.
The proper training for diversity sensitivity, cultural awareness and respecting the diverse background of coworkers is also an important element in this regard. The managers must prevent any incidence of workplace discrimination and they must try to develop the environment of inclusion and mutual support
