Managing a business is stressful for both the leader and the employees. What time and stress management tactics would you implement?
Stress is a natural part of human life. It can provide motivation and can increase the performance but it can also lead to depression and anxiety if not properly managed. In business, there are a lot of business operations to be managed which brings stress for both leaders and employees. Poor time management also can cause a lot of stress. Leaders and employees can learn ways to manage stress by implementing time and stress management tactics.
1) Nurture good relationships - Good relationships help people disclose and share some of the concerns, emotions, and stress on their mind.
2) Offering flexibility in the workplace - It gives people a chance to address some of their stress points, especially personal ones. For example, flexible work schedules or flexible working hours in the workplace helps the employees to work when they are most productive. Flexibility should be provided for a limited time period.
3) Avoid perfection- Perfection makes people overthink and pressure themselves beyond a helpful point. Perfection leads to setting unrealistic goals which result in a lack of motivation in employees.
4) Divide the task into smaller parts - A large project may appear overwhelming however it becomes manageable and achievable when broken down into smaller parts. This helps to manage time efficiently.
5) Prioritizing the important task - Important business operations that are necessary should be carried out first to avoid delays in work and also to avoid stress.
6) Introducing wellness programs - These programs assist in managing employee’s lives by eliminating stress at work and home. Such programs include employee assistance programs(EAPs), workshops specially made for effective stress management, fitness subsidies, gyms, and yoga days at work.
