What is a pioneer species, and what is a climax community? Why are lichens in particular important in early succession
Pioneer species are species which colonize 1st to a area means a area where no species is present and this site is very new.
Climax community is a biological community where all plants, animals, microbes etc have reached at steady state .These species are stable one so remain .This community is acquired after many ecological succession and this is final one.
Lichens are considered as pioneer pioneer species because they grow on rocks etc and produce nutrients for plants by decomposing various rocks into usable form .
