thank You
Theory of planned behaviour -
It predict an individual's intention to engage in a behavior at a specific time and place. The Theory of planned behaviour states that behavioral achievement depends on both motivation (intention) and ability (behavioral control).
That means an individual make logical, reasoned decisions to engage in specific behaviours by evaluating the information available to them. The performance of a behaviour is determined by the individual’s intention to engage in it which is influenced by the value the individual places on the behaviour, the ease with which it can be performed and the views of significant others and the perception that the behaviour is within his/her control.
when we relate this theory to dental hygiene,
we can determine an individual's oral health behaviours (such as brushing the teeth twice daily, regular visit to dentist, washing the mouth after every meal, flossing etc.) by his attitude and the depth of knowledge regarding dental hygiene and its importance percieved by him. Depending on the available knowledge and attitude about oral hygiene he will have the intension to adopt or follow the healthy behaviour.
Social learning:
social learning theory explains that people learn a new behaviour from one another through observation, imitation and modeling.
when we relate this theory on dental hygiene,
A best example is that a child learns to brush his teeth by observing his parents or siblings. They observe and imitate the oral hygiene pratices how their parents used to do daily.
