What is probability sample? discuss and give example
Probability sampling is a type of sampling technique in which samples are used from the larger population using the method of the theory of probability. In probability sampling method each and every one has equal chances of getting selected. If a person is selected randomly, he/she is considered as a probability sample. Each person has a full chance of getting selected in this sampling method. For example, if there are 50 people from whom the sampling has to be made, then the chance of every 50 people is equal. It is the best way of representing the population equally. There are many types of Probability Sampling. They are simple random sampling, stratified random sampling, cluster random sampling, and systematic sampling. In Simple Random sampling randomly the selection is made. This method works for a large population. In Stratified Random Sampling, the larger population is divided into smaller groups and then the process is carried on. Classifications by sex, age, and ethnicity are done through this method. In Cluster Random Sampling people are selected when they are geographically spread. It samples a particular population on the basis of elements like city, family, etc. In Systematic Sampling, every ‘nth’ individual is selected as a part of the sample. In this sampling unequal opportunity is available for every member.
