Give an example of a voluntary response sample not in the book.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution : The voluntary response sampling

The voluntary sampling method is one method  of non probabilities sampling. In this type of sampling a researcher (a person who wants to study on  perticular topic )requests the people who are in population to come in sample or to join the sample.

The resercher invites people to become a part of sample

Very clearly, only those people will join the study as sample who are interested in that topic. Hence here the sample becomes biased. The people who wish to take part in study already decide what to answer and they usually dont change their mind.

Now, There are many examples of voluntary response study.

Suppose that a resercher wants to study the popularity of a dancer. He will organise a dance show where the people who are interested in will come to see dance.

Then he can take survey of those people who will join the dance show . The people already have the openion about the dancer, they will take the survey .

Now there may be haters and lovers of the dancer. They will give survey accordingly

This is example of voluntary response  sampling.

On social networking sites , suppose there is video uploaded. those who are interested in the topic will come there to see the video and then comment it , like it or dislike it

Alternately they are giving the response to that video and the people in sample are volunteer over there.
