Give a BRIEF, general overview of the Annual Budget Cycle, from
the president's budget through budget implementation. Brief means
to provide only a couple sentences on each major part of the
cycle.
What are your top three areas of concern that you think should be
addressed in the federal budget and why?
Top three areas of concern in federal Budget are as follows:-
1. Presidential Election
There has always been a lot of debate on presidential race all over the year, with candidates debating on critical issues ranging from ISIS to campaign finance to Social Security. The discussions go on with various issues concerning public health, general public welfare, social security benefits, public maintenance etc. It is important to analyse federal spending being discussed by candidates that affects the individual state. The rising cost of higher education is prohibitive for many students and their families. So is the cost of early childhood education, making it difficult for children, especially those in low-income households, to benefit from preschool
2. Public spending and Waste
There have been instances where the top officials have wasted millions on private villas and millions more on a gas station. While every other federal agency is required to complete an audit every year, the top officials have no such requirement, so we can’t always be sure whether the spending of our tax dollars is being done efficiently or not. It needs to be analysed how the Pentagon spends its budget and highlighting any mismanagement. Every dollar misspent by the Pentagon is a dollar that’s not being used to create opportunity and investment here at home. The government should also made permanent major tax breaks for corporations
3. ISIS and Terrorism
Handling terrorism by having by-talks with various countries will have positive impacts on combating terrorism across various nations. For instance, In USA, the president had announced that the U.S. would send troops to Syria in an advisory role. U.S. troops were deployed to Iraq last year in a so-called advisory role, yet the Pentagon announced a recent US combat death just days before the president’s announcement. Operations against ISIS are a slippery slope. As of today, the US has spent nearly billions of dollars on operations against ISIS, and costs will only rise with troops on the ground. In the coming years, the terrorist threat from Russia and beyond will only increase. With the fall of the Islamic State, Russian-speaking terrorists were mostly able to flee Iraq and Syria with more ease than Middle Eastern foreign fighters and are now back in hiding in the former Soviet sphere or in Europe.
