In this assessment, I will briefly explain the basic leadership styles and the management style I have observed and my findings regarding that.
There are three basic leadership styles in management, authoritarian, democratic, and laissez-faire or freestyle.
The authoritarian style is an I style approach under which the leader guides and orders the followers and alone makes decisions without consulting any of the followers or the group members. The democratic leadership style provides some power to the followers or the group members to speak and suggest something. It allows and encourages the group members to discuss and recommend to come to a final decision while involving them. Laissez-Faire allows all the group members to make decisions freely, and they have all the authority, responsibility, and relationship in their hands regarding their work.
So, I have explicitly experienced the democratic style of leadership in the management.
At my workplace, my manager always discuss any plan he is going to implement on my colleagues and me. The whole team is present in all his meetings regarding us; the manager takes suggestions from us regarding how we can improve our productivity. After considering all the recommendations, he comes to a conclusion which benefits all of us.
In conclusion, I would say it is useful. If the manager took all the decisions on his own, our team would have felt somewhat resentment because he did not ask for suggestions regarding our work. So, I see it as the most effective management style, which helps boost our confidence and productivity, and we also sense a feeling of belonging and trust with the organization. It also helps in improving the superior-subordinate relationship.
