Job analysis is done to get a job description in an organization. The tasks involved in the job, responsibilities and the set of skills required by the job, all these factors will be considered and description of the job is obtained.

For a corporation that has no job description so far, performing job analysis is complicated. With no previous Job description, each post in the organization must be well defined. That is, every post in the organization must have a discrete purpose. Only then, a specific job description can be prepared. Hierarchy must be well defined beforehand.

Job analysis can be done in two ways. One is task oriented and the other one is worker oriented. In the task oriented approach, the responsibilities involved, tasks that have to be completed in the job are given highest priority. Through these details, an exhaustive job description can be obtained. In the worker oriented approach, stress is more on the qualities and skill set required to perform the job. Every job needs a specific set of skill set. These requirements are obtained and job description is prepared.
