How does a manager's leadership style impact employee success?
Leadership is the ability to influence people to accomplish the organizational goals. Leadership comes in many types and forms and no single style can be applied in every situation. Leadership requires contingent approach because of complex human behavior and complex dynamics at workplace. Employees are different and they behave differently to different; they have different attitudes towards work and they have different approaches to accomplishing organizational goals. This complexity at workplace requires managers to different leadership styles to make their employees successful.
An employee who is hard-working and productive requires people centric leadership style (country club leadership style) because the employee is already a performer. A country club leader will improve the chances of success of such employees because they need humane approach and not task approach.
Similarly, an employee who is less attentive to work requires task leadership. In the absence of task leadership such employees continue to behave indifferently to their job; this leads to employee success a difficult task. These kind of employees need to be strictly dealt with strict task approach; otherwise they continue to be unproductive.
In view of above discussion, it is imperative that manager’s leadership style impact employees success.
