Expert Solution

1) Some of the communication difficulties faced while interacting with person from another culture are as follows

  • They speak softly and slow while communicating, on the other hand we Indians are loud and fast in talking.
  • Indians use a lot of hand gestures while talking which they don’t.
  • In so many instances we node our head right left up and down to say a yes or no which they don’t understand and find them offensive.
  • It’s difficult to understand how they will interpret what we communicate.
  • while writing mail we write in point and keep it short, but they write mails in a detailed format.
  • They communicate their business dealing by first exchanging the business card and then talking about the business.
  • We often beat around the bush to communicate things on the other hand they are straight forward and clear with the point they want to put forward.

2) Times it’s difficult to avoid local expression because they are inherent within our self from growing up and it comes in a reflex where we are also not aware of. we have been grown and seen others doing the same so do we. Example to say yes, or no Indians are habituated to move their head to right and left. When a foreigner sees this, they are clueless what we are trying to communicate and feel offended.
