What is the "control" in a marketing plan? I am needing to add it into my plan and I am lost at what this is.
Control in the marketing plan:
Marketing is all about identifying the needs and wants of the customers and persuading them to purchase or use the product or service. The marketing plan determines how it is done. The need for control in the marketing plan is highly required to maximize the effectiveness of the plan by monitoring the progress of the plan. The plan needs to be analyzed to determine the actual performance of the plan based on what is supposed to be or based on the projections made in the plan. This helps to develop the appropriate performance measurement indicators to analyze the plan. The control can be put in place depending on the customer feedback received which can be either directly through interviews or phonecalls or indirectly through online polls that reflects the characteristics of the marketing plan. For example, we might have included a new mascot in the marketing campaign and if most of the customers are not be impressed with the new mascot, then the mascot should be removed or modified in the marketing plan. Hence the control in the marketing plan will show whether the proposed plan is on the right track to reach the desired destination.
